The Institution of Engineers (India) is a unique Professional Society, having 0.5 million members such as Engineers, Academicians, Research Scholars, and Students etc. from 15 engineering disciplines across the globe.

It functions with an aim to provide technical, professional and supporting services to R & D activities government, industries, academic institution and engineering communities.

It is the first to emblematize India in several International Bodies, such as World Mining Congress (WMC), the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), the Commonwealth Engineers' Council (CEC), the Federation International du Beton (fib), and the Federation of Engineering Institutions of South and Central Asia (FEISCA).
